Exercise 5. You are going to read three scenarios. They are written as through we are already in 2025. Which one, A,B or C, describes the following?

The end of human society as we know it.
The most peaceful world society.
The longest life expectancy for the rich.
The most dramatic developments in science.

Read the texts to check your predictions. A.

There hasn`t been a world war since 1946. Reason and diplomacy have defeated madness and war. Nuclear weapons are a thing of the past, as are extreme ideologies. An international peace-keeping force has nothing more dangerous than rifles and bullets.

B. The world divided into three self contained wealthy trading block: Europe, Spanish speaking North and South America, and the countries of the Pacific rim. Other areas of the world still suffer to a certain extent from hunger and poverty.
C. The world is exausted after religious war which has climed the lives of a billion soldiers and civilians. Parts of the world are nuclear wastelands. The chance discovery of a vaccine for AIDS has come too late to save the population of Central Africa.

And now we are going to watch a video materials “Microsoft 2020 technology future vision”, “Tour Microsoft’s Home of the Future”
